Question 47- What is the EFA profile of hemp seed oil?  Next question is, what is the EFA profile of hemp seed oil? The essential fatty acid profile of hemp is that it is a little heavier in six, it is a little bit lesser in three and nine and has naturally occurring gamma linolenic acid or GLA present in the oil itself with nothing being added. It also has vitamin E.
And naturally occurring chlorophyll, which is pretty amazing because most of the good essential fatty acids don’t have chlorophyll with it. The Years and years ago, the fish industry came out with one study, about six years ago, that tried to lump in trans fats, like the type of fats that you get with like fried chips, and cooked chips, and tortillas, and stuff like that, and tried to add that to the base total of omega 6, and say, “oh, see here, look, look, look, look, look, you’re getting way too much omega 6.You should really lean on, you know, you should lean on our fish stuff because you’re getting way too much.”
And that was a completely skewed study. Although hemp seed oil has a higher amount of omega 6 in a raw form than certain other healthy fats, one of the things that’s really cool is that hemp seed oil is one of the very few in fact, actually I think it’s the only healthy fat that has ever been declared by the World Health Organization as having the perfect balance of Omega 3, 6, 9 fatty acids for what human beings need.
And that is in its raw format, where you have a little bit less of 3, a little bit less of 9, a little bit more of 6. That’s ideal. And the fact that it has chlorophyll that’s in it, I think is pretty stellar, because you’re getting something that is very calming, very cooling.
Very good for the joints, very good for digestion. You’re also getting something that’s very heavy in I mean it has naturally occurring GLA, and if you’re talking about gamma linolenic acid, you think of like Think of it like a car. That’s how it was always best described and to me in the way that I think is best described to other people is you think of like, say, think of Omega 3 as like your electrical system in your car.
Omega 6 is like the cooling system in your car. Omega 9 is some of the hardware like your spark plugs and your, your transmission. And then think of GLA as something that’s like your alternator and your starter and your battery all combined together. And so it’s the activator. It’s what puts that all into motion.
If you ever listen to some of the great lecturers on EFAs like Udo Erasmus and Michael Murray, they will absolutely lean on the importance of having GLA with every healthy fat that you take. And that’s what hemp seed oil has naturally. Boom. So there.
