Question 29 – Can CBD show up on a drug test? Next question, can CBD show up on a drug test? What? Like, what? So, that question just makes me ask like another question, and I would have to, I don’t understand why in the world a particular employer would ever try to generate Or have a lab generate a test that would test for something that’s completely and totally not psychoactive, you know?
It’s like testing for vitamin D. Can vitamin D show up on a drug test? It’s like, only if they’re looking for it. You know, a really common misunderstanding about all kinds of different tests. This comes from… People’s misconceptions, if they don’t work in a lab setting, about what can a lab test tell you in a result.
And they’re like, no, no, that’s not how it works. How it works, you run one test to find out the levels of vitamin A, the next test to see what is vitamin C, the next test to find out what types of silica and maybe copper or something are in it, you’d run another panel potentially to find a small array of trace minerals that might have the same signature, you would run another test To find out the levels of chlorophyll, you know, it’s there’s no there’s nothing that goes I’m the everything test and I just tell you everything.
It’s the same thing with the drug test. You have to be looking for things That can set off a particular result and even, you know, you’re looking for a particular item Usually one ingredient will change the color of something else. Now, they do pretty intricate p tests or something They’ll tell you a pretty good array of what’s in somebody’s pee If you’re able to look for it but it takes a while to run through those different panels of sampling to find out what’s in that pee and they can also be really really really bad one of my favorite Examples of this is from the Dr. Bronner’s video and narcan pee test (a Narcan field test) that they did with with a really popular band member, punk band. And it showed a false result of an opiate in somebody’s result, you know, from from soap. Like, it just, it gets triggered by soap of all things.
So if you just took a shower or, you know, you had a little bit of whatever, like, soap can… can trigger the Narcan test. I think it was Darby Crash that they did this test with. He got pulled over in Newport. But Newport Beach, California. And you know, that is that’s kind of how tests work. So back to your main question. Can CBD show up on a drug test? Potentially, yeah, if somebody’s looking for it, but then cannabidiol isn’t.
isn’t something that can prohibit you from employment because it can be found naturally in so many different substances specifically black pepper, holy basil, turmeric root, cacao powder you know, anybody that’s taking like a turmeric capsule or a turmeric a type of curcuminoid. They’ll all, they’ll all show up with CBD in their pee.
So, I don’t know why anybody would waste their time on it because it’s not going to show the presence of anything that’s, you know, that’s illegal. Okay? That was a little bit longer away around the block than I wanted to go, but it’s like, yeah, it could show up, I guess, if someone’s looking for it, but I don’t know why they would be looking for it because it’s not going to indicate the use of anything that’s not acceptable, you know?
Okay. Cool.
